Retirement Contribution Limits, Feb 2010
With April 15th fast approaching, we thought it would be helpful to outline the deadlines and limits for making IRA account contributions. For 2009, the contribution limit for Traditional and Roth IRAs is $5,000 for persons under age 50 and $6,000 for persons age 50 and older. Please note that these limits represent the total combined amount you may contribute to your Traditional and Roth IRAs.

Deciding on Whether to Convert Retirement Assets to a Roth IRA, Dec 2009
Starting January 1, 2010 two important features take effect that will 1) make more people eligible to convert retirement assets to a Roth IRA and 2) allow spreading the income tax due for the conversion over two years instead of one. Traditional, Rollover, SEP, and SIMPLE IRAs can be converted as well as tax-qualified retirement plans including, 401(k), 403(b), 457(b), profit sharing and money purchase plans.
